Margaret C. Lewis Scholarship

Margaret C. Lewis studied dance with F.M. Crosse in London, where she completed a six-year curriculum with highest awards. She was cited as an authority on dance in two books, Dancing and Dancers of Today, by Charles and Caroline Caffin and The Dance, by Troy and Margaret West Kinney. She was on the board of directors of Wassaic State Hospital, a founding member of the Kingston YWCA, and a member of the Kingston Garden Club. Mrs. Lewis was also president of the Children’s Home and a member of the Ulster County Historical Society. During World War II, Mrs. Lewis headed the War Bond drive in Kingston. Through a bequest, this scholarship has been established in her name. There is no specific requirement stipulated for this award. Est. 1981
