Daniel Perez Cueva Scholarship for Immigrants by Darlene L. Pfeiffer.

Cousin of the Ulster Community College Foundation Board member and SUNY Alumni ambassador Victor Cueva Esq., Daniel Perez Cueva, age 21, was an undocumented student who obtained a scholarship to Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech). In 2007, only one semester away from graduation, Daniel tragically lost his life during the Virginia Tech shooting while sitting in the front of his French class. Daniel was a student who demonstrated perseverance and academic success. He had applied for an internship in Washington D.C. and was waiting for a response at the time of his death.

The Daniel Perez Cueva Scholarship for Immigrants by Darlene L. Pfeiffer is being awarded in Daniel’s memory and in acknowledgment of the many attributes he held. Student applicants may be full or part-time (9 credit minimum) who are entering or returning to SUNY Ulster. The award will be given to students who are undocumented and who maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 or, for entering students, an equivalent high school average. Preference will be given to students studying Political Science and who are interested in a career in International Relations, as Daniel was. (EST 2017)
