Tom Davis Memorial Scholarship

A graduate of Seton Hall University and a Professor of Philosophy at SUNY Ulster for 28 years, Tom’s dedication to learning was his life’s work, his passion, and his legacy. Tom was a beloved member of the campus community and is deeply missed by his many colleagues and the students whose lives he touched. At the celebration of his life, many individuals stepped forward to speak about his qualities of compassion, good humor, and wisdom. His passing has profoundly touched all who were fortunate enough to have known him. Friends and family members have established this scholarship as a fitting way to reflect his life’s work as a professor of philosophy who inspired his students to lead more meaningful lives. Recipients are entering, returning or transferring students studying Liberal Arts, Humanities Honorary & Memorial Scholarships and Social Science, or Human Services, and pursuing a career in Philosophy, Religion, Literature, or Secondary or College Teaching. Recipients must demonstrate financial need and have completed community service with the intent of improving or preserving the environment or activities that promote world peace. Est. 2009
