Iris Stedener Memorial Scholarship

Iris Stedener was a lifelong Ellenville resident for more than 70 years and an avid supporter of education, the arts, and animal rights. Ms. Stedener attended Cortland State Teacher’s College, later named the State University of New York at Cortland. Upon her passing, Ms. Stedener made a generous provision in her will to support scholarships for students from the Ellenville Central School District, and students attending SUNY Ulster, Orange and Sullivan Community Colleges and SUNY New Paltz and Cortland. The Iris Stedener Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to an entering, returning or transferring student pursuing a career or course of study in Teaching, Physical Education or Special Education.
